Overseas Pakistanis

Only for those who left the country for some solid reasons but still consider themselves Pakistanis and are over-burdened for feeling the pain of their people back home and contribute somehow to build and save Pakistan.

Baba called on Friday night and said in a shivering voice, “don’t step outside and store necessary kitchen items, idhar aisi aisi khabrain aa rahi hain kay dil dehal jaye”…… thanks to GEO and other channels for doubling the tensions of Pakistanis living abroad.  Well, this is what he has been saying to me for last few months.  My one and only answer to him, “No, I don’t go anywhere, I have enough aata, daal, chawal, cheeni and dry milk”.  He gave me a list of necessary items and always asks if I have them in abundance.

Just a few moments ago, baji called and in a horrible voice requested me to stay home and not to step outside for any reason, “bohat kharab halaat hain Karachi kay, kuch ho jaye, ghar say mat nikalna, bohat khoon kharaba honay wala hay.”  Same reply to her.

My family is never satisfied with my answer.  I know they all love me and care about me but I have something else to say to every true Pakistani living abroad.

Please don’t call just for the sake of your relatives, if they are ok.  Your responsibility doesn’t end here.  Think about Pakistan.  All Pakistanis are one big family.  You live abroad, you know what I mean.  You understand the importance of being one nation, unity, living together, tolerance.

When you call your relatives or family members, tell them the ways they can make Pakistan a better place; love, forgiveness, honesty, politeness, straight forwardness, punctuality, discipline, cleanliness, time-management, professionalism.

Tell you relatives and families in Pakistan that their personal likes and dislikes do matter but only within the four walls of their houses.  One step outside their homes and they become social.  Then they are not private and personal anymore.  They may have a right to keep their homes dirty but not the streets.  They have a right to break and destroy their personal belongings at home but not the public property.  They might have an option to drink wine, commit adultery or any other sins inside their homes but not to be witnessed by others in open.

If your relatives belong to any religious or political party or any NGO, tell them that outside their home, offices or buildings, everything is a public property.  It doesn’t belong to any individual or particular group or political or religious party.  They can’t paste their posters or hang banners on the overhead bridges, flyovers, fences of roundabouts, schools, colleges, government offices, pillars, railway stations.  Overhead bridges, flyovers, underpasses, walls and roundabouts, school, colleges, universities, federal buildings are not build for commercial use. They can’t ruin the beauty of the city by wall chalking.  They can’t block the roads and traffic for their stupid rallies, strikes, protests, religious gatherings.  They can’t destroy the roads by fixing tents for any reason.

Don’t bother to tell us how bad is the situation here.  We live here and we know it better.

Don’t waste your money in telling them how happy and peaceful you are there.  It doesn’t help Pakistan.

Don’t waste your time in telling them how good is the system there.  The system there is good because you are obeying the laws.  The system here would have been great if you had obeyed the laws.

Help Pakistan with your positive thinking and character building suggestions to your family and relatives or friends.
