Let’s Welcome the Threat

Shumaila Kanwal didn’t kill herself for the reasons of hunger and poverty like hundreds of poor do everyday. Her suicide attempt was a protest against the system of Pakistan. She was not ready to bear the insensitivity of the judicial system. She preferred to die over living like a helpless woman among the unconcerned people. Unconcerned and feeling-less!
This is so sad to see and hear from the educated women of Karachi devaluing Shumaila’s death as she did it for a stupid or no reason at all. For most of them, this is the case of Punjab and what can they do about it. Others don’t even know if someone named Shumaila finished her life for some reason.
She ended her life for the sake of “JUSTICE”. A word and an idea which is very strange in Pakistan. It’s a good thing that her husband was killed by an American official so her voice is heard even after her death. Otherwise, hundreds of women are brutally murdered and tortured by their own family members on daily basis. Who cares about them? Forget about the adults for they might have done something wrong but what about little girls raped and killed by their blood relatives and neighbours.
To bring revolution for the sake of JUSTICE, we must start from our own homes. Raise voice against crimes at homes. Stop trusting each other for stupid reasons. Stop obeying the elders unnecessarily and illogically so they also fear accountability before further messing the things up. Same goes for the politicians.
Keep an eye on the people we live with and the people we deal with everyday. Stop neglecting little children so they don’t become an easy prey for sexual abuse….by their own beloved and respected elders. Notice things at job, at public places, at food streets, at schools and colleges, in shopping areas…… and then notify them. Justice will be served everywhere only when we will stop injustices everywhere.
Don’t rely upon the judicial system. If they start settling the disputes so easily, how will they earn their livelihood? More chaos means more cases, which means more business.
USA is threatening Pakistan for cutting aids. This could be a threat for the politicians because they fill their bank accounts with American aid. The common citizens don’t even get the crumbs. So why should they care about it?
We’ve lost the case of Dr. Afia. Let Shumaila win her case against the American terrorist. Let’s welcome this threat of America. It’s the politicians will go hand to mouth, not public.
Don’t listen to any of the politicians. The only thing they can do is to generate fear of America and of losing their aid. Let’s get rid of this fear. God’s world is full of sources and resources.
