The Prophet’s Birthday

کی محمد سے وفا تو نے تو ہم تیرے ہیں

یہ جہاں چیز ہے کیا, لوح و قلم تیرے ہیں

بے شک الله اور اسکے فرشتے آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم  پر درود بھیجتے ہیں۔۔۔ اے وہ لوگوں جو ایمان لائے, تم بھی آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم  پر درود پردرود بھیجو اور سلام احترام کے ساتھ۔۔۔۔ سورہ الاحزاب, آیت چھپن۔۔۔

“Verily, Allah and His angels send durood on the Prophet… O you who believe, send your durood on him and salute him with all respect.  (Surah Al-Ahzaab, Ayah 56)

Someone asked Hazrat Ayesha about the character of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), she said, “Qur’an was his character.”

Qur’an is not only the Book of Laws and instruction.  According to this saying of Hazrat Ayesha, Qur’an also provides the most authentic source to understand the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which no one can deny.

حضرت محمد صلی الله علیہ وسلم کی تعریف کے لئے مناسب الفاظ کسی زبان میں موجود نہیں۔۔۔ رسول صلی الله علیہ وسلم کا کردار کیا تھا, اخلاق کیا تھے۔۔۔ سچائی, ایمانداری, امانتداری, مہربانی, مدد, نرمی, انکساری, عفو ودرگزر, کم گوئی, حیا, تقوی۔۔۔ 

الله سبحانہ وتعالی نے سورہ الاحزاب آیت اکیس میں آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو ایمان والوں کے لئے کردار کا بہترین نمونہ قرار دیا۔۔۔ 

سورہ القلم میں فرمایا کہ آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم بلند ترین اخلاق پر فائز ہیں۔۔۔ 

سورہ الانبیاء کی ایک سو ساتویں آیت میں آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو تمام عالم کے لئے رحمت قرار دیا۔۔۔

سورہ الاحزاب میں فرمایا کہ آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم خاتم النبیین ہیں یعنی اب الله سبحانہ وتعالی قیامت تک کسی اور انسان کو نبی نہیں بنائے گا۔۔۔

سورہ الحجرات میں مسلمانوں کو تنبیہ کی کہ آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کا احترام کریں اور انھیں بلند آواز سے پردے کے پیچھے سے نہ پکاریں۔۔۔ 

سورہ التحریم میں آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو تسلی دی کہ اگر آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کی ازواج آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو چھوڑ بھی دیں تو الله, اسکے فرشتے اور تمام مومنین آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ہیں۔۔۔ 

سورہ الضحی میں آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو ڈھارس بندھائی کہ نہ تو الله آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کوبھولا ہے اور نہ ہی آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کا ساتھ چھوڑا ہے۔۔۔ اور بہت جلد الله آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو وہ سب دے گا جس سے آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم خوش ہو جائیں گے۔۔۔

سورہ الانشراح میں  تقویت دی کہ کس طرح الله نے آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو سمجھ عطا کی, آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کا بو جھہ کم کیا اور آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کا ذکر بلند کیا۔۔۔

سورہ آل عمران کی بیسویں آیت میں آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو یاد دلایا کہ آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کی ذمہ داری صرف پیغام پہنچانے کی ہے۔۔۔ اہل کتاب مانیں یا نہ مانیں, ان کی مرضی۔۔۔

سورہ التحریم میں آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو کافروں اور منافقوں کے خلاف ثابت قدم رہنے کا حکم دیا۔۔۔

سورہ آل عمران کی اکتیسویں آیت میں آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم سے کہلوایا کہ جو الله سے محبت کر تا ہے اسے چاہئے کہ آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کی پیروی کرے۔۔۔ الله اس سے محبت کرے گا اوراس کے گناہ معاف کردے گا۔۔۔

سورہ طہ میں فرمایا کہ حضرت عیسی علیہ السلام نے آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کی خوشخبری اپنی قوم کو دی۔۔۔ 

سورہ المومنون کی آیت ستر میں فرمایا کہ آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم مسحور یا مجنون نہیں۔۔۔

رسول صلی الله علیہ وسلم کی تعریف اس سے زیادہ ممکن نہیں خود الله سبحانہ وتعالی نے قرآن میں  کردی ۔۔۔ حضرت عائشہ رضی الله تعالی عنہا کے قول کے مطابق آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کے اخلاق و کردار قرآن کا عکس ہیں۔۔۔ لہذاآپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو جاننے اور پہچاننے کے لئے قرآن کا مطالعہ ضروری ہے۔۔۔ 

What is the significance of Prophet’s birthday in Islam?  How should we celebrate it?  Did Prophet (pbuh) or companions ever arranged Mehfi-e-Milad?  Would Muhammad (pbuh) be happy with the way we  celebrate milad?

Prophet’s life cannot be compared with our lives.  His life, his character and his words are the matter of faith for entire mankind.  We may have a right to live our lives as we want but should be careful when expressing our love and respect to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

ربیع عربی زبان کا لفظ ہے جس کا مطلب ہے بہار۔۔۔ پاکستان میں یہ لفظ موسم گرما کی فصل کے لئے بولا جاتا ہے۔۔۔ یا پھر ماہ ربیع الاول کے لئے۔۔۔  جو کہ حقیقتا بہار ہی بن کر آنا چاہئے۔۔۔ ہو سکتا بہت سے لوگوں کے لئے یہ بہار ہی بن کر ہی آتا ہو۔۔۔ لیکن اسکو منانے کے طریقوں پر اختلاف بھی رہا ہے۔۔۔ 

کم از کم ان طریقوں سے نہیں منانا چاہئے جو آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم اور خلفائے راشدین کے زمانے سے ثابت نہ ہو۔۔۔ 

روز مرہ کے عام معمولات میں جدت پسندی, نیا پن, انو کھا انداز, بہت اچھی باتیں ہیں۔۔۔ لیکن اسلام  اور رسول صلی الله علیہ وسلم کا معاملہ عام نہیں۔۔۔ یہ عقیدے اورایمان کا معاملہ ہے۔۔۔ اوراسلامی عقیدہ اورایمان  تماشہ, ہلا گلہ نہیں۔۔۔ 

 محمد ابن عبدالله ابن عبدالمطلب تو ایک اعلی کردار کے باوقار شخص کا نام تھا۔۔۔ جو نبوت کے اعلان سے پہلے ہی ہاشمی, قریشی, مکی اور مدنی نہیں بلکہ امین اور صادق کے نام سے پہچانا جاتا تھا۔۔۔ جس کو یہ علم نہیں تھا کہ وہ اپنے بے مثال کردار کی وجہ سے چالیس سال کی عمر میں قیامت تک ے لئے تمام انسانوں کا امام بنادیا جائے گا۔۔۔ جو مجمع میں کھڑا ہو تو عام لوگوں جیسا لگے۔۔۔ جو ملے تو مسکرا کر سلامتی بھیجے۔۔۔ جس کا زندگی بھر کھیل تماشوں اور ہلے گلے سے کوئی تعلق نہیں رہا۔۔۔ جس کو بلاوجہ قہقہے لگاتے, مستیاں کرتے نہیں دیکھا گیا۔۔۔ جس کو بہترین تجارتی اصولوں کی وجہ سے شادی کاپیغام بھیجا گیا۔۔۔ جو بیٹی کے لئے محبت سے کھڑا ہو جائے۔۔۔  جس پر اسکے گھر والوں کو بھی اعتماد تھا اور شہر کے لوگ بھی بھروسہ کرتے تھے۔۔۔ جو راستے چلے تو اپنے لئے بچھائے گئے کانٹوں کو نظر انداز کردے لیکن راہ میں موجود مظلوم جانوروں کی تکلیف پر بے چین ہو جائے۔۔۔ جو اپنے امتیوں کے لئے راتوں کو جاگ کر روئے اور ان کے لئے الله سے معافی طلب کرے۔۔۔ 

 بہترین انسان, بہترین مرد, بہترین دوست, بہترین پڑوسی, بہترین ہمسفر, بہترین بھتیجا, بہترین شوہر, بہترین باپ, بہترین رسول, بہترین رہنما, بہترین قائد, بہترین عالم, بہترین چرواہا, بہترین تاجر, بہترین آقا, بہترین امام, بہترین سیاستدان, بہترین قانون دان, بہترین سالار, بہترین خطیب, حتی کہ بہترین دشمن… 

آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم نے جس امت کو ہر روپ میں عزت اور خودداری کی زندگی گذارنے کے بہترین طریقے سکھائے۔۔۔ اس نے ان احسانات کے بدلے کیا دیا۔۔۔ بیو پاری یا بھکاری کردار۔۔۔ 

آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کے نام, کردار, اخلاق۔۔۔ ان کی ہر چیز کی قیمت وصول کرلیتے ہیں۔۔۔ مشہور نعت خواں مہنگے علاقوں میں شاہانہ فلیٹ اور گھر خریدتے ہیں۔۔۔ تو کہیں مسکین اور نابینا بازاروں میں نعتیں سنا سنا کر لوگوں سے دو دو پانچ پانچ روپے جمع کررہے ہوتے ہیں۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ پڑوسیوں پر مہنگے میلاد کرکے رعب ڈالتے ہیں۔۔۔ میلاد کے لئے ٹینٹ لگا کر لاکھوں روپے کی سڑک توڑتے ہیں جو کہ پبلک پراپرٹی ہوتی ہے, لاکھوں لوگوں کی امانت۔۔۔۔۔۔ کروڑوں روپے کی مٹھائیوں تقسیم کی جاتی ہیں تو کہیں لوگ سال بھر ایک وقت ایک اچھے کھانے کا خواب دیکھتے ہیں۔۔۔ ساری راتیں نعتیں پڑھنے کے لئے جاگ لیتے ہیں جبکہ لاکھوں بیمار, معذور مدد کے منتظر بیٹھے ہیں۔۔۔۔۔۔ 

 ان سب کے باوجود بھکاری۔۔۔ الله جانے اگر آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم اس وقت ہمارے سامنے آجائیں تو کیا سوچیں گے۔۔۔ کتنی کوفت ہوگی انھیں لاکھوں مسلمان روتے گڑگڑاتے ہوئے بھوکے ننگے بھکاری بنے اپنے نکمے پن کا رونا روئیں گے۔۔۔ بے علم, میلے کچیلے, پان تھوکتے, وحشت ناک امتی۔۔۔ دنیا کے امام دنیا کے معاملات سے بے خبر۔۔۔ انسانوں کو راحت اور آسانیاں دینے والے انسانوں کے مسائل سے بے پرواہ۔۔۔ جن کو ہدایت کا پیغام پہنچانے کا حکم ہے انھیں کافر کہہ کر نفرت کا نشانہ بناتے ہیں۔۔۔ لوگوں کو الله سے قریب کرنے کے بجائے خود سے بھی دور بھگا دیں۔۔۔ 

کیا محفل میلاد ان سب غفلتوں کا بدل ہو سکتا ہے۔۔۔  

Can Milad be an alternate for the real task given to us by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)…. do good deeds, protect ourselves and our family from Hellfire, keeping ourselves away from vulgarity and sins, study and preach Qur’anic teachings, establish a political system based on justice and basic equal rights for all human beings, be fair and firm in dealings, be the custodian of people’s happiness and their rights?

Christians celebrate Christmas (Jesus/Hazrat Isa’s Birthday) and they sell things on discount to please God and to benefit non-Christians as well.  Pakistanis celebrate Milad (Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)’s birthday)…. what do they do to please God and benefit even non-Muslims?

We feel proud of being the follower and lover of the greatest Prophet of all.  Are we sure our Prophet (S.A.W) would have the same feeling about us?  What have we done to make him proud of us?  Just one action that would make him happy on the Day of Judgement?  He certainly wouldn’t care about mere words of praising.

MUSICAL CONCERTS

فطرت کے تقاضوں کی کرتا ہے نگہبانی

یا بندہ صحرائی, یا مرد کوہستانی

The precious words of great man (mard-e-momin) of our history, Hazrat Jaffar Tayyar ibn Abu Talib (brother of Hazrat Ali) in Najashi’s court,

“O king, our people were ignorant and wild. We worshipped idols. We ate the flesh of the dead. We committed evil. We teased our neighbours. The strong tormented the weak. We usurped the rights of our relations. Oppression and evil was our daily routine of life, when Allah, with all his kindness sent towards us a man from amongst us as His Prophet. We knew him well and found him most honest and trust worthy, pious and virtuous, who commanded great respect and confidence in Mecca. He forbade us to worship idols and associate other deities with Allah. He convinced us of the Oneness of Allah, and truth and honesty. He taught us how to love the neighbours and relations and avoid telling to lie. He told us not to murder any one without reason. He prohibited deception, wrangling and evil and warned to keep our hands off the orphan’s property. He forbade us to make false accusation against anybody. He called the people to abandon idolatory, believe in one God, offer prayers, observe fasts and pay zakat. We have full faith in him and follow the way of life practiced by him. We abandoned idolatory and submit to One God. We came to know of lawful and unlawful. Consequently our own community and our friends turned into foes because of the change in our life and our views. They were determined to bring us back to idolatry and other evil practices by tormenting us and even take our lives if necessary. When their brutalities became unbearable  we migrated to your country under orders of our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).”

These men from desert changed their lives from similar to what we are living now in Pakistan, to a civilized one.  Hazrat Jaffar Tayyar mentioned the reasons to King Najashi.  They introduced a new system to the world that was, for centuries, indulged in wine, singing, dancing, gambling, partying, festivals, celebrations, abusing women and children, oppressing weak – nothing civilized and productive.  Their scholars, thinkers and wise men were mostly found living in solitude because they knew that these worldly attractions can be categorized as ‘entertainment’ but not as the goals/career (as the word goal has now been replaced by ‘career).

Punjab government, many times, for many reasons has banned musical concerts in educational institutions.  Mostly recently, this government ruling half population of Pakistan has been harshly criticized by literates, illiterates and celebrities alike.

I usually don’t count Pakistani celebrities (the current lot excluding the legends, the honourable Madam Noor Jahan and Ustad Amanat Ali Khan and his son Asad Amanat Ali Khan – Madam was even distinguished among them) as the part of our society because of their own claim, “we are artists and so are sensitive and fair, we are not hypocrites, we observe people and imitate them, we are a mean that let the world know what is going on in Pakistani society, for us art has no limits and no boundaries, an artist belong to the world and is not bound to a specific territory, bla bla bla…”…….. these are enough reasons to classify them as “different people”.  I personally think that anyone with these wording cannot be trusted to build a system.  They live for money, they die begging for money for their treatment.  They are wise enough to adjust famous western philosophies regarding art, ignoring the values and right traditions of our society.  While ‘building system’ is a process that requires a lot of sacrifices, even popularity, applaud and chikni chapri haan main haan milanay wali batain.

As Iqbal has defined it, this slavery is their life-cycle that they are trapped in.  I think that even animals do consider time, venue and situation to do dancing, singing, applaud and celebrations.  So I totally ignore the celebrities for condemning these kind of bans.  They know Pakistan consists of 65% energetic youth who could be their great source of income if gone astray at young age.  They don’t mind criminals.  See, actors and actresses feel proud getting awards from Zardari.

“When crops are ready, farmers do bhangra – peacocks dance – people dance in festivals in different cultures…..”……. Farmers have right to do bhangra because they suffer for whole Pakistan, they so, they harvest, cultivate, they work for months and wait for months –  peacocks, they are animals and even then they have timings for dancing – festival/ folk dances are usually related to their beliefs and centuries old traditions and they follow limits.  Do musical concerts have any of these reasons?

For the sake of further arguments or any arguments at all, I have a suggestion for Pakistani youth.  Since they are not interested in getting education at all, their parents either don’t care about it, politicians especially MQM, PPP and many religious groups have to make up excuses to destroy the remaining educational process and the American lords are not happy with us for being literates and the way our schools and colleges are run……… they shouldn’t exist there anyway.

Why don’t our youth run a campaign to close down all schools and colleges in Pakistan?  Homeschooling then would be a better or the best choice for that tiny fragment of population who wants to be recognized as ‘civilized people’.

Let’s sing…..Rock a Bye Baby on the Treetop…. when the wind blows the cradle will rock…

when the bough breaks the cradle will fall…  and down will come baby, cradle and all

 Just imagine you, young people, you won’t have to carry heavy bags, you won’t have to wake up early morning just to learn how to read and write (who cares about it when money is there), you won’t have to sit like slaves for six hours, you won’t get to see unqualified, impolite, rude and unprofessional teachers, no more punishments, no more yelling by parents, no more curses, no more threats.  You will earn money from young age and will independently, you can even kick your parents out before their old age or they will have to live according to you.  You can buy anything you want, you will be praised by the world.  No one would mind your appearance, your complexion, your hair-style, your apparel, even your strange accent.  Everybody with worship you.  Believe me, until you are able to make money and dump on yourselves, no one would dare to stand against you.

You can even shut people’s mouth by saying that we are a democratic nation and in democracy, education should be limited to fun and fine arts.  Medicine, engineering, environment, libraries are not the concerns of underdeveloped countries like us.  We are poor, frustrated nation and we can’t afford to study serious matters.

Just one precaution, must save enough money for your old age.  You know why because, you won’t be the one-man show in this field.  You will have to face millions of competitors, both inside and outside the country.  So as you will start fading away, millions will replace you with better performance.  That might be the time that you regret not going to school, not being sincere to yourself and for not knowing that this will happen to you.  You may feel lonely that no one is there to throw food into your mouth or check your pulses if you are dead or alive.  And then people close to you, putting their hands under your nose and feeling no hot air exhaled, may announce you dead.  The channels will only wait for doctor’s confirmation.  No one would understand that you were dead long time and regretting the choices you made in the past.  But hey, that’s not a problem, you can try to avail citizenship in other countries.  They do have a system of respectful farewell for old people.

So,

CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry, are a you relevant person to talk about education, youth and the sacredness of educational institutions?

Can you please take a suo motto action and pass these laws so students, principals, teachers, parents and educationists can find time to get rid of hopelessness and idleness?

Please change school and college timings to 3 hours and children get to study only four basic subjects; Urdu, English, Math and Science – rest of the subjects can be merged in English and Science.

All children know how to operate computers.  For programming and other advance features, they can join computer learning centers.  For Islamiyaat, they can consult Madrassah or maulvi on weekend or after school.  For physical activities, gym, sports, swimming and martial arts, they can join sports clubs and centers.

Youth will have rest of 21 hours to enjoy music, dance, comedy and other tamashay and they can go to theaters and cinemas and can watch cable channels and CDs all the time.  They already sing and dance for days during weddings and other ceremonies and festivals.

Just change timings to only 3 hours aur phir parents janay, unkay bachay janay aur celebrities janay.

دنیا بڑی بانوری پتھر پوجنے جائے

گھر کی چکی کو ئی نہ پوجے جس کا پیسا کھائے۔۔۔

شاعر نے غلط نہیں کہا۔۔۔ خدا کی مخلوق میں جو کچھہ دیتا ہوا, فائدہ پہنچاتا ہوا نظر نہ آئے, اس کو خدا بنا کر پوجنے کا کیا فائدہ۔۔۔ اگر پتھر ہی پوجنا ہوتو چکی کیا بری ہے کہ گیہوں پیستی نظر بھی آئے اور سنائی بھی دے, نہ کہ خواہ مخواہ اپنے ہاتھہ سے بت تراش کر کونے میں بٹھا دیں کہ اپنے سر سے مکھی بھی نہ اڑاسکے۔۔۔ اور اگر انسانوں ہی میں سے کسی کی عبادت کرنی ضروری ہو تو پھروہ کماتا ہوا, کھلاتا ہوا کوئی شخص ہونا چاہئے۔۔۔ نہ کہ وہ جس کو خود نذرانہ دے کر اسکا پیٹ بھرنا پڑے۔۔۔

جیسے دنیا کے بہت سے معاشروں میں مردوں کو یہ مقام خداوندی حاصل ہے۔۔۔ کبھوباپو کی صورت ماسفید و سیاہ اور درمیان کے سارے شیڈز کے مالک۔۔۔ کبھی شوہرکی شکل میں مجازی خدا بن کر ہر فیصلے کا اختیار  ۔۔۔۔  اور اگر بھائی یا بیٹا کما نے لگے تو وہ بھی اسی لائن میں شامل۔۔۔

قرآن کریم میں بھی مردوں کو عورتوں پر ایک درجہ فضیلت اسی لئے دی گئی کہ وہ  ان پراپنا مال خرچ کرتے ہیں۔۔۔ بات ہے بھی سمجھہ میں آنے والی۔۔۔ کہ دینے والا کام اپنی مرضی کا ہی چاہے گا۔۔۔ لینے والا چاہےملازم ہو, چاہے گھر کا نوکر, چاہے قرضدار یا بھکاری۔۔۔ یاتو مرضی کا کام کرے یاپھر پیسے واپس۔۔۔ کیوں کہ دنیا کا نظام کوئی بھی ہو, لین دین پر ہی چلتا ہے۔۔۔

خیر اسکا مطلب یہ نہیں کہ دینے اور لینے والے کا تعلق واقعی میں خدا اور بندے کا ہو۔۔۔ ہاں ایکدوسرے کے حقوق اور ضروریات کا خیال رکھنا لازمی ہے۔۔۔ وہ حقوق جو خدا نے اپنے بندوں کودیے ہیں۔۔۔ اپنی ذمہ داریوں کو پورا کرنے کے بدلے خدا کی طرف سے دئے گئے حقوق کا سودا کرنا درست نہیں۔۔۔      

یہی سب باتیں خواتین کے لئے بھی ہیں۔۔۔

لیکن پتہ نہیں کیوں۔۔۔ ہمارے معاشرے میں رواج یہ ہے کہ مرد ہو یا عورت, جس کا زور چل جائے۔۔۔ وہی خاندان میں وڈیرے, جاگیردار, سردار کا کردار ادا کرنا شروع کردیتا ہے۔۔۔ بجائے کہ اپنے اریب قریب کے لوگوں کو اس قابل بنائیں کہ تھوڑے عرصے بعد وہ اپنے پاؤں پر کھڑے ہو کر آزاد زندگی گذار سکیں۔۔۔ نہایت ہی طریقے سے سارے فیصلے خود کرتے ہیں۔۔۔ پھر اپنے طریقوں سے انھیں نبھانے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں۔۔۔ آخر میں تھک کر سب چھوڑ دیتے ہیں۔۔۔

صدیاں گذر گئیں, سالوں بیت گئے۔۔۔آج تک ہمارے گھرانے اسی طرح چل رہے ہیں۔۔۔ جو روایات ہمارے معاشرے کو آج تک تباہ و برباد کرتی آئیں ہیں۔۔۔ ان پر روتے بھی ہیں اور انھیں کی حفاظت کرتے ہیں۔۔۔ دینی ہوں, سماجی ہوں یا خاندانی۔۔۔ ان روایات کے بوجھہ نے پوری قوم کو تباہ کردیا۔۔۔ سب اس بات کی گواہی دیتے ہیں مگر ان کے خلاف کوئی قدم اٹھانے کو تیار نہیں۔۔۔ کوئی خاندان, کوئی فرد۔۔۔ ایسا جوخود ان کو توڑے اپنی زندگی بہتر کرنے کے لئے۔۔۔ دوسروں پر, معاشرے پر تنقید کرتے ہیں۔۔۔ جب اپنا موقع آتا ہے تو خود اسی کیچڑ میں کود پڑ تے ہیں۔۔۔

ہم اور ہمارے مقابلے پر ساری دنیا۔۔۔ دونوں اس بات پر تو قائل ہوگئے کہ اسلام کو بدنام کرنے اور اس کا اصل چہرہ بگاڑنے کے ذمہ دار مولوی اور طالبان ہیں۔۔۔ لیکن آج تک یہ اندازہ نہ لگا سکے کہ پاکستانی معاشرے کو جہنم بنانے کا ذمہ دار کون ہے۔۔۔ پاکستانی چینلز پر دکھا ئے جانے والے ڈرامے اس کا آسان سا جواب ہیں۔۔۔ اور ڈرامے دیکھہ کر اردگرد کے ماحول پر نظر ڈالیں تو معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ وہ ڈرامے نہیں حقیقت ہیں۔۔۔

کمزور کردار کے, غیرت اور خودداری سے خالی, مختلف رشتوں کی شکل میں موجود خواتین کے درمیان ادھر سے ادھر لڑکنے والے اور جان بوجھہ کر بیوقوف بنے رہنے والے عقلمند مرد۔۔۔ 

باقی رہیں خواتین۔۔۔ تو یا تو وہ مظلوم ہیں یا ظالم۔۔۔ نارمل نہیں۔۔۔ جس رشتے کی عورت کا جس پر بس چل جائے۔۔۔ حسد, لالچ, بغض, نفرتوں اور سازشوں سے بھری ہوئی شیطان صفت عورتیں۔۔۔ جنھیں ان کے گرد موجود تمام مرد بھی دفاع کرتے ہیں۔۔۔ اس لئے کہ جانتے ہیں کہ ایسی عورتیں کسی نہ کسی طرح گھروں کو قائم رکھتی ہیں۔۔۔

ایک دوسرے کو جنون کی حد تک نیچا دکھانے والے پاکستانی معاشرے کے مردوں اور عورتوں کو کبھی یہ بات سمجھہ نہیں آتی کہ اپنے پیروں پر کھڑا ہونے اور خود مختار اور با عزت زندگی گذارنے کے لئے سب سے زیادہ ضرورت خدا پر ایمان اور اتنی دولت کی ہوتی ہے کہ اپنی ضروریات خود پوری کرسکیں۔۔۔ ورنہ کم از کم عورتوں کو تو بڑے چکرچلانے پڑتے ہیں۔۔۔ بے چاریاں شوہروں, بھائیوں, بیٹوں کو رزق اورعزت وذلت کا مالک سمجھہ کر پکڑ کر رکھتی ہیں۔۔۔ شرک کہیں, کفر کہیں, محبت کہیں, سمجھداری یا دنیا داری۔۔۔  انھیں چکروں میں زندگی گذارتے گذارتے قبر کے گڑھے میں جا گرتے ہیں۔۔۔ 

 زندگی گذارنے کا یہ طریقہ ان مردوں اور عورتوں کا اسلام, روایات, ثقافت اور ایمان ہے۔۔۔

The King of Ghazal

The shining star of Pakistan, the bearer of soft and soothing voice, widely known as “The King of Ghazal”, Ustad Mehdi Hasan Khan Sahib is a valuable asset of Pakistani music.  The singer and composer of numerous musical masterpieces has proved himself to be the best vocalist in South Asian region.  Being honest to his profession, this legend has produced thousands of enchanting songs and ghazals that will be remembered for centuries.

Born in 1927 in Rajhistan (Indo-Pak Subcontinent), he inherited the talent from his forefathers and was groomed by his father Ustad Azeem Khan and other family members.  He sang for radio and in films as a playback singer and ruled the two medias for years.  His national songs are a precious possession of this country.  He has entertained his listeners for more than four decades with his soothing, melodious voice.  It is a very difficult task to sort out the best audios out of his entire presentations.

His work had been highly appreciated by the presidents of Pakistan  which happened to be Army dictators.  He was awarded “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” by Gen. Ayub Khan, the “Pride of Performance” by Gen. Zia-ul-Haq and “Hilal-e-Imtiaz” by Gen. Pervez Musharraf.  He also achieved the “Saigal Award” in Jalandhar, India and the “Gorkha Dakshina” award in Nepal in recognition of his matchless performance in traditional music.  This is very strange and a sad reality that his passion was never recognized by any civilian government of Pakistan.

Whatever the awards he has been granted, but the fact is that the real pleasure touches an artist’s mind and soul when he/she is being applauded by the audience, the common people.

Death is the ultimate reality of this life.  Mehdi Hasan Khan Sahib, no doubt a grand name and one of symbols of Pakistan, at the age of almost 85 is living his last moments.  A bouquet, a Get-Well-Soon card, a note of thank to admire his dedication, few gentle words and a face-to-face smile can make this end “pleasing” instead of “suffering”.

He lived an honorable life and his farewell should be remarkable as well, I wish!

May Allah (SWT) make his last moments and his return easy and peaceful for him.  May he be blessed with peace and mercy in both worlds.  Ameen!

Youth in 2012

The population of Pakistan consists of one hundred million children and youth.  If youth is still thinking that change in political set-up and changing politicians will change the system, they are wrong.

Have they ever thought where did Zardari, Altaf Hussain, Nawaz Sharif, Asfand Yar Wali, Fazlur-Rehman, Munawwar Hasan, Gen. Musharraf, Chaudhry Shuja’at, Pervez Elahi, Shahi Syed and all politicians come from?  They were born here, were raised here, by their mothers and fathers, among their brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, neighbours, friends and teachers.

If we blame them for being insensitive, apathetic, characterless, corrupted and criminals — that certainly has a lot to do with their bringing up.  They are not only a big legal mistake of their parents but all the people in their surroundings who never taught them the difference between virtue and sin, honesty and dishonesty, legal and illegal, haram and halal, working and cheating, earning and looting.  Their all kinds of mistakes and crimes were JUSTIFIED by every single person in their surroundings — this is how they were raised.  This is how we all raise our children, by justifying our misdeeds to them and then by justifying their corruption to the society.

But how did these ‘Crime Masters’ get to the positions and status they are holding now?  Who recognized these ‘tumors of immorality’ as ‘leaders’?  Who always believed in the promises of this continuous chain of ‘liars’?  Who gathered in millions and made their jalsas’ successful?  Who sold themselves for one hundred or five hundred or one thousand rupees to show their massive support to these monsters?  Who never asked them to recite the national anthem and never forced them to hold the national flag?  Who never demanded the Courts of Pakistan to arrest them against criminal charges?

PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN is the only correct answer, the elders of today’s youth, their parents, grandparents and relatives.  Have our youth ever asked their parents and grandparents about the role they have played in building Pakistan, beside listening to their justifications?

I wonder how would Imran Khan change the system?  Will he double and triple the number of sweepers to keep the roads and streets clean 24 hours?  Will he assign special task force that can train Pakistanis to stand in line anywhere, even in colleges and universities?  How will he break the network of educational mafia which consists of ‘school-owners, principles, teachers, professors, education ministers and employees’?  What will he do about the unified education in Pakistan and improving the plight of government schools?
Before I had complaints with MQM, ANP, Jamat-e-Islami and PPP.  Now Karachi’s walls are painted with PTI’s slogans and promises.

Looks like we are never going to become a disciplined, neat and clean and a civilized nation.
