God’s Argumentation

This is how our beloved Allah (SWT) gives proofs of His Existence and Powers to His misguided slaves, so they think and return to their Lord in repentance.

Surah Al-e-Imran/The Family of Imran 168 (death)

“These are the very people who, while they themselves stayed at home, said of their brethren, who had gone to the battle and had been slain, “If they had listened to us, they would not have been slain.”

Tell them, “If you really believe in what you say, you should turn away your own death, when it comes to you.”

Surah Al-Mu’minoon/The Believers 91 (Oneness of God)

“No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah. (He is free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to Him!”

Surah Al-Furqan/The Criterion (Oneness of God)

“Yet have they taken, besides him, gods that can create nothing but are themselves created; that have no control of hurt or good to themselves; nor can they control death nor life nor resurrection.” 3

“Those who reject Faith say: “Why is not the Qur’an revealed to him all at once? Thus (is it revealed), that We may strengthen thy heart thereby, and We have rehearsed it to thee in slow, well-arranged stages, gradually.” 32

Surah Al-Waqi’ah/The Event 57-74 (Existence of God)

“It is We Who have created you: why will you not witness the Truth? ….. Do you then see?- The (human Seed) that you throw out,-     Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator? ….. We have decreed death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated, from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that you know not.  And you certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do you not celebrate His praises? …..

“See you the seed that you sow in the ground?  Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause?  Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and you would be left in wonderment”

(Saying), “We are indeed left with debts (for nothing):     “Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)”

See you the water which you drink?  Do you bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We?  Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do you not give thanks?

See you the Fire which you kindle?  Is it you who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it?  We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts.

Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme!”

Surah Al-Waqi’ah/The Event 80-87 (man’s independence)

“A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.  Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem?  And have you made it your livelihood that you should declare it false?”

“Then why do you not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,-  And you the while (sit) looking on,-  But We are nearer to him than you, and yet see not”

“Then why do you not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,- call back the soul, if you are true (in the claim of independence)?”

Surah Al-Hajj/The Pilgrimage 72-73 (polytheism)

“When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, you will notice a denial on the faces of the Unbelievers! they nearly attack with violence those who rehearse Our Signs to them. Say, “Shall I tell you of something (far) worse than these Signs? It is the Fire (of Hell)! Allah has promised it to the Unbelievers! and evil is that destination!”

“O men! Here is a parable set forth! listen to it!  Those on whom, besides Allah, you call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the purpose! and if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition!”

Surah Al-Hujraat/The Apartments 17 (Being a Muslim)

They think they have done you a favour by becoming Muslims.  Say: “Do not consider your Islam a favour to me.  No Indeed!  It is Allah Who has favoured you by guiding you to faith, if you are telling the truth.”

Surah Al-Mulk/The Sovereignty, Control 3-4 (Oneness of God)

“He Who created the seven heavens one above another:  No want of proportion will you see in the Creation of ((Allah)) Most Gracious. So turn your vision again: see you any flaw?  Again turn your vision a second time: (your) vision will come back to you dull and discomfited, in a state worn out.”

Surah Al-Mulk/The Sovereignty, Control (Powers of God)

“Do you feel secure that He Who is in heaven will not cause you to be swallowed up by the earth when it shakes (as in an earthquake)? Or do you feel secure that He Who is in Heaven will not send against you a violent tornado (with showers of stones), so that you shall know how (terrible) was My warning?  But indeed men before them rejected (My warning): then how (terrible) was My rejection (of them)?” 16-18

“Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in?  None can uphold them except ((Allah)) Most Gracious: Truly ((Allah)) Most Gracious: Truly it is He that watches over all things.” 19

“Say: “It is He Who has created you (and made you grow), and made for you the faculties of hearing, seeing, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give” 23

“Say: “See ye?- If your stream be some morning lost (in the underground earth), who then can supply you with clear-flowing water?” 30

Surah Al-Qiyamah/The Resurrection 36-40 (Life after Death)

“Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)?  Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)?  Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did ((Allah)) make and fashion (him) in due proportion.   And of him He made two sexes, male and female.  Has not He, (the same), the power to give life to the dead?”

Surah Al-Isra/The Night Journey 40-43 (Oneness of God)

“Has then your Lord (O Pagans!) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself daughters among the angels? Truly ye utter a most dreadful saying!   We have explained (things) in various (ways) in this Qur’an, in order that they may receive admonition, but it only increases their flight (from the Truth)!”

“Say: If there had been (other) gods with Him, as they say,- behold, they would certainly have sought out a way to the Lord of the Throne!  Glory to Him! He is high above all that they say!- Exalted and Great (beyond measure)!”

Surah Al-Isra/The Night Journey 49-51 (Life after Death)

They say: “What! when we are reduced to bones and dust, should we really be raised up (to be) a new creation?”

Say: “(Nay!) be you stones or iron, or created matter which, in your minds, is hardest (to be raised up),- (Yet shall you be raised up)!

then will they say: “Who will cause us to return?” Say: “He who created you first!”

Then will they wag their heads towards thee, and say, “When will that be?” Say, “May be it will be quite soon!”

Surah Al-Isra/The Night Journey 94-95 (Prophet-hood)

“What kept men back from belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this: they said, “Has Allah sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger.”  Say, “If there were settled, on earth, angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for an apostle.”

Surah Al-Qalam/The Pen 35-47 (man’s arrogance)

“Shall We then treat the People of Faith like the People of Sin?  What is the matter with you? How judge you?”

“Or have you a book through which you learn – That you shall have, through it whatever you choose?”

“Or have you covenants with Us to oath, reaching to the Day of Judgment, (providing) that you shall have whatever you shall demand?”

“Ask them, which of them will stand surety for that!”

“Or have they some “Partners” (in Allah)? Then let them produce their “partners”, if they are truthful!”

“The Day that the shin shall be laid bare, and they shall be summoned to bow in adoration, but they shall not be able,- Their eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused).”

“Then leave Me alone with such as reject this Message: by degrees shall We punish them from directions they perceive not.  A (long) respite will I grant them: truly powerful is My Plan.”

“Or is it that you (O Muhammad) do ask them for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?”

Or that the Unseen is in their hands, so that they can write it down?”

Surah An-Namal/The Ants 88 (Signs of God)

“You see the mountains, thinking them to be firmly fixed, but in reality they (are in constant motion) and pass by (with the movement of the earth) like the passing of the clouds. (And so will they be crumbled on Doomsday so as to take on the form particular to the other world.) This is the pattern of God Who has perfected everything. He is fully aware of all that you do.”

Surah Fatir/Originator  11-17 (Powers of God)

“And Allah did create you from dust; then from a sperm-drop; then He made you in pairs. And no female conceives, or lays down (her load), but with His knowledge. Nor is a man long-lived granted length of days, nor is a part cut off from his life, but is in a Decree (ordained). All this is easy to Allah.”

“Nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike,- the one palatable, sweet, and pleasant to drink, and the other, salt and bitter. Yet from each (kind of water) do you eat flesh fresh and tender, and you extract ornaments to wear; and you see the ships therein that plough the waves, that you may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah that you may be grateful.”

“He merges Night into Day, and he merges Day into Night, and he has subjected the sun and the moon (to his Law): each one runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord: to Him belongs all Dominion. And those whom ye invoke besides Him have not the least power.  If you invoke them, they will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). On the Day of Judgment they will reject your “Partnership”. and none, (O man!) can tell you (the Truth) like the One Who is acquainted with all things.”

“O ye men! It is ye that have need of Allah. but Allah is the One Free of all wants, worthy of all praise.  If He so pleased, He could blot you out and bring in a New Creation.  Nor is that all difficult for Allah.

Surah Qaaf/the letter qaaf  (Life After Death)

“But they wonder that there has come to them a Warner from among themselves.   So the Unbelievers say: “This is a wonderful thing!  What! When we die and become dust, (shall we live again?) That is a (sort of) return far (from our understanding).”

We already know how much of them the earth takes away: With Us is a record guarding (the full account).  But they deny the Truth when it comes to them: so they are in a confused state.  Do they not look at the sky above them?- How We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it?  And the earth – We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)-  To be observed and commemorated by every devotee turning (to Allah … And We send down from the sky rain charted with blessing, and We produce therewith gardens and Grain for harvests;  And tall (and stately) palm-trees, with shoots of fruit-stalks, piled one over another;- As sustenance for ((Allah)’s) Servants;- and We give (new) life therewith to land that is dead: Thus will be the Resurrection.” 2-11

“Were We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation?  It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.” 15-16

Surah Al-Ghashiyah/The Overwhelming 17-20 (Signs of God)

“Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?   And at the Sky, how it is raised high?   And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?  And at the Earth, how it is spread out?”
