Pakistan, Grow and Glow

The saddest thing that I feel about myself being a Karachiite is that I am misunderstood by the majority of people belong to other provinces.  Why do they think of us as “the enemies of Islam, the American and Indian agents who are involved in the killing of civilians in Northern Areas plus support American drone/missile attacks”?  Why do they count each and every Karachiite as a worker of MQM?

There could be two reasons for this perception.

First, people of Karachi don’t have a frequent and easy access to Northern Areas and Balochistan.  Once in a while they visit those places for a summer or winter trip.  That provides local residents a good business if they understand.  But their leaders have closed the doors for Karachiites.  The only voice that reaches them from Karachi is of Altaf Hussain and that is like a political diary, reminding nation the killing of their workers.

Or whatever they hear from their family members living in Karachi.  Most of them compare the life in Karachi with their rocky lands.  They complain about their miseries and the hard work they do but they never try to change their lives, don’t want to learn, don’t acquire education.  So the choices they are left with to run a road-side hotel, be a security guard or a driver, to sell fruits and dry fruits, to carry cement bags and bricks on their backs, to dig the roads or to sell smuggled fabric.  They should be thankful to Karachiites that they still get business from them.  Just last week  I met a young rickshaw driver and he told me that while attempting the exams for Ninth Grade, he didn’t even know  how to get to the center and what to write in subject.  He seemed proud that he passed the matric but kind of complaining that he is driving rickshaw.

Second, they believe in their racist leaders.  They live in Karachi but never realize that they have more freedom and more opportunities than Urdu speaking people.  Thousands of Pathans and Balochis come here, live here, earn their livelihood and make money to support their families back in their provinces.  What’s with seizing the lands and properties in Karachi?  Why the wrong way?  They have lost their homes, their properties, their lands to Afghanis and Indian agents.  May be this is how they feel the pain, when others come and take away your belonging, kill you and cause you to leave your birthplaces.

The truth is that that people of Pakistan believe more in what politicians say.  They let politicians drive them crazy.  Balochis, Punjabis, Pathans, Sindhis and Urdu speaking…they all need each other.  They can be good friends of each other, not Americans or Indians or Afghanis.  God knows, they won’t helps us, never.  They want to turn Pakistan into Iraq or Kashmir or Palestine.  Why provide them with reasons?  They are using politicians and many religious groups to divide us, to create hatred and fear.  We don’t need to fear each other.  We know our leaders are corrupt, then why do we listen to them?

Not all Karachiites are MQM.  They don’t want to lose their businesses and industries to Indians.  They don’t hate Pathans, Balochis, Punjabis and Sindhis.  They are hard working people as well.  They want to work together.  They are also against American drone and missile attacks.

Let’s not take away life from each other, or the land or the property.  We all have lost a lot.  Let’s reduce the fear and give each other a chance to grow and glow.

Wake Up People…

Men and Women

“The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.”….(Surah At-Tawbah/The Repentance, 71)

“And do not covet that by which Allah has made some of you excel others; men shall have the benefit of what they earn and women shall have the benefit of what they earn; and ask Allah of His grace; surely Allah knows all things.”….. (Surah An-Nisa/The Women, 32)

“Surely the men who submit and the women who submit, and the believing men and the believing women, and the obeying men and the obeying women, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the patient men and the patient women and the humble men and the humble women, and the alms-giving men and the alms-giving women, and the fasting men and the fasting women, and the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard, and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember– Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a mighty reward.”….  (Surah Al-Ahzaab/The Clans, 35)

“Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him/her will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.”… (Surah An-Nahl/The Bee, 97)

I wondered why the profiles of Pakistani men mostly say interested in “women”, almost the same case with women, they are interested in “men, chatting, dating”.  Why it can’t be something else or may be other choices are not given there.  Why do we like chatting for fun, why not for a mission?  Why do Pakistani men and women, boys and girls, like to use each other, like to play with each others’ dignity and honour?  Why can’t we become the support for each other, in a respective and dignified manner?  Why not behave and become a model for the world?

Well, wasting life with these priorities, even a fool can easily predict our more miserable and disastrous future.  We, both men and women, are responsible for our own destruction.

Wise Sayings

1) Wealth converts a strange land into homeland and poverty turns a native place into a strange land.

2) Lack of friends means, stranger in one’s own country.

3) Woman is a scorpion whose grip is sweet.

4) I wonder at a man who loses hope of salvation when the door of repentance is open for him.

5) One of the conveniences in life is to have less children.

6) Bear sorrows and calamities patiently, otherwise you will never be happy.

7) One who takes lessons from the events of life, gets a vision, one who acquires a vision becomes wise and one who attains wisdom achieves knowledge.

8) Mind also gets tired like body so refresh it with wise sayings.

These are some of the wise sayings of Hazrat Ali ( taken from Nahjul Blagha.  I have the book in Arabic with Urdu translation but couldn’t finish it because of the poor printing.  What’s the point of reading them if not acting upon them.

And I feel like he already knew us.

Saying #1 represents our people’s life-time priority.

Saying #2 belongs to me.

Saying #3, agree, that is why I keep myself masculine.

Saying #4, our national tragedy.

Saying #5, convenience disowned!

Saying #6, silent majority.

Saying #7, need to build rehabilitation centers to revive this process.

Saying #8, certainly it wasn’t a political statement or a show-biz dialogue.

May we all be guided to the correct understanding of Islam.  Ameen!

Our Future

I was just watching these videos on youtube and wanted to share it on facebook but I was shocked when the following message displayed:

Then I tried the sound vision videos of Dawud Wharnsby and the fact revealed to me that not only those two videos but DW’s and Adam’s World videos are also blocked by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.  Why???  ICNA is not a terrorist organization and Dawud Wharnsby is not a terrorist, Adam’s World is an educational Muslim puppet show for children, then why???

The only reasons that came to my mind for doing that are that….

1) Pakistan Telecommunication is already ruled by athiests and/or people from anti-Muhammad (peace be upon him) groups and since they can’t do it on their own, they must have been directed by our so-called democratic government to do so…..and since our govt can’t even sneeze without taking permission from their Western Masters, so they must have gotten the green signal from them to do so.

2) Second reason could be (which is a fact, I believe) that Pakistani Government officials (including ruling allies and opposition on both political and religious parities) don’t want Pakistani people to progress and prosper the new or educational ways.  They all are in an effort to force us, common Pakistanis, towards backwardness which finally will drive us towards extremism and terrorism and ultimately will provide an excuse to their Western Masters to attack Pakistani People in the name of war against terrorism.

3) Third reason could be that Pakistani Government took advantage of the facebook ban protests and instead of applying the term “sacrilegious” to their shameless visual proofs, blocked ICNA’s videos.

4) The third reason could be that our people are idiotically careless, the government is not idiot thought but illiterate and ignorant and the educated community is a coward or better say Bunya Mentality, just care about their profit and loss.  So I think ICNA (Islamic Circle of North America) would have to do something about it so we can get their videos back on facebook.

But why would ICNA care about it????  Pakistani youth (boys) and men are interested in Katrina Kaif’s videos, Pakistani youth (girls) and stupid women have fallen in love with Shahrukh Khan or other Khans.  Electronic media (beside news channels) through their morning show hosts is busy promoting them.  No educational channels and programs for children they produce except for those dancing and singing contests.

While each and every person (whether religious or non-religious) is contributing all negatively, only a fool would expect a bright future for our up-coming generations.

Invocations for Protection

فَاللهُ خَيْرًا حَافِظًا وَ هُوَ اَرْحَمُ الرّا حِمِينَ

But Allah is the best to guard, and He is the most Merciful of those who show mercy.  (Surah Yusuf, 64)

فَسَهِّل يا الَهي كُلَّ صَعْبٍ بَحُرمَةِ سَيِّدِالاَبْرَار

So, O my Lord, provide ease for us in all severe matters (for the sake of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), make things easy.  Ameen!

I seek refuge in the perfect word of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

The order of this land

Many great Muslims scholars tried to prove the existence of God and His Oneness through the systematic coordination and interdependence of the living and non-living things upon each other.

But sometimes things going or happening the opposite of that universal line of discipline also lead to believe that there is a God and He has full command over everything and everyone, either running in order or out of order.

Years ago, I heard of a foreigner who came to this land with the purpose of some technological aid or industrial development and after spending few years in Pakistan, on his return he said that the one who don’t believe in the existence of God should go to Pakistan and see who is running the country.

If only the people of Pakistan can understand this; not only the making of Pakistan but her existence, despite of all the malicious international and regional conspiracies, is a great proof of divinity.

Blessed be the sacred land
Happy be the bounteous realm
Symbol of high resolve
Land of Pakistan!
Blessed be thou, citadel of faith
The order of this sacred land
Is the might of the brotherhood of the people
May the nation, the country, and the state
Shine in glory everlasting!
Blessed be the goal of our ambition
This flag of the crescent and star
Leads the way to progress and perfection
Interpreter of our past, glory of our present
Knowledge of the future
Symbol of the Almighty’s protection

An Angel in Pakistan

“There is a community among the People of the Book who are upright. They recite God’s signs throughout the night, and they prostrate. They believe in God and the Last Day, and enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and compete in doing good. They are among the righteous. You will not be denied the reward for any good thing you do. God knows those who guard against evil…. (Qur’an, Surah Al-e-Imran/The Family of Imran 113-115)

Dr. Ruth Pfau

A great human being that very Pakistani should be proud of, proved with her character and passion that basically all religions are based upon love and humanity.

It was in early seventies when one of my uncle (my mom’s brother-in-law) who was appointed as an agriculture officer in Khairpur, Sindh was bit by some poisonous insect.  Within couple of weeks he started losing his sight along with developing severe skin problem.  At that time, Dr. Pfau was referred to him as the best skin curer .  He then moved to Karachi for regular treatment.  Every time he returned from her clinic, he glorified her politeness and kindness towards her patients, the way she handled them with a soft smile on her face and patted those who were abandoned by their own family members and relatives.  We all became big fan of her in our childhood not knowing who she really was.  We only knew her as a nice Christian foreigner.  Another admirer of Dr. Pfau’s great personality is one my cousin’s husband who got the honour of working with her.  After his matriculation, he moved to Karachi and worked with her while studying medicine.

Dr. Pfau was a nun, a reverent religious personality who dedicated her life to the people not of her faith and race, in a country situated miles away from her birth place.  She is a blessing for the people of Pakistan, a role-model for doctors, for women, for religious people and in general to us all.  May Allah (SWT) be pleased with her always.  Ameen!

“Those who believe and those who are Jews and the Sabaeans and the Christians, all who believe in God and the Last Day and act rightly will feel no fear and will know no sorrow….(Qur’an, Surah Al-Maidah/The Table Spread 69)

Freedom Flotilla, Love Gaza

Surah Al-An’aam (The Cattle, The Livestock) 161-163

[Say: "Verily, my Lord hath guided me to a way that is straight,- a religion of right,- the path (trod) by Abraham the true in Faith, and he (certainly) joined not gods with Allah." Say: “Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds:  No partner hath He: this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who bow to His will.”

Proud of Talat Hussain (AAJ TV)’s representation to join “Freedom Flotilla” on Pakistan’s behalf.  May Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful! be their protector and guardian.  May He accept their hard struggles and pure intentions to help the poor, innocent human beings who are continuously being tortured and killed by brutal Israeli Forces.  May Allah help every single soul who raise their voices and stand up for humanity.  Ameen!

Freedom Flotilla

Surah Al-e-Imran (aya 137 to 150)

“Many were the Ways of Life that have passed away before you: travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth.  Here is a plain statement to men, a guidance and instruction to those who fear Allah.   So lose not heart, nor fall into despair: For ye must gain mastery if ye are true in FaithIf a wound hath touched you, be sure a similar wound hath touched the others. Such days (of varying fortunes) We give to men and men by turns: that Allah may know those that believe, and that He may take to Himself from your ranks Martyr-witnesses (to Truth). And Allah loveth not those that do wrong.  Allah’s object also is to purge those that are true in Faith and to deprive of blessing Those that resist Faith.  Did ye think that ye would enter Heaven without Allah testing those of you who fought hard (In His Cause) and remained steadfast? Ye did indeed wish for death before ye met him: Now ye have seen him with your own eyes, (And ye flinch!)  Muhammad is no more than an apostle: many Were the apostle that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah. but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude.  Nor can a soul die except by Allah’s leave, the term being fixed as by writing. If any do desire a reward in this life, We shall give it to him; and if any do desire a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give it to him. And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve us with) gratitude.  How many of the prophets fought (in Allah.s way), and with them (fought) Large bands of godly men? but they never lost heart if they met with disaster in Allah.s way, nor did they weaken (in will) nor give in. And Allah Loves those who are firm and steadfast. All that they said was: “Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that transgressed our duty: Establish our feet firmly, and help us against those that resist Faith.” And Allah gave them a reward in this world, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. For Allah Loveth those who do good.  O ye who believe! If ye obey the Unbelievers, they will drive you back on your heels, and ye will turn back (from Faith) to your own loss.  Nay, Allah is your protector, and He is the best of helpers.”

“Earlier this week, Turkey urged Israel to end the blockade and said it was using diplomatic channels with Israel to avert a showdown over the flotilla. However, Ankara has also said the sea convoy, arranged in part by a Turkish aid group, is a private initiative. Turkish-Israeli relations cooled after Israel’s military offensive against Gaza in the winter of 2008-2009.

In Gaza City, Haniyeh, the prime minister of Gaza, praised Turkey as a leader among Muslim nations. Gaza’s harbour was decorated with Turkish flags. “This fleet indicates that Turkey … is leading strategic changes in the region based on disconnecting itself from the Zionist enterprise and joining the Muslim nations,’ he said.”…………………..

“The Gaza Freedom Flotilla has been months in the planning and now consists of nine boats which will set sail for Gaza and converge just off its shores.

Being part of the 700-strong civilian ‘crew’ was an easy decision to make. Individuals such as myself have been forced to take bold steps to challenge Israel. In order to bring about justice, we are forced to face this danger. Even as we make our plans, the Israeli navy, headed by none other than Ehud Barak, the defence minister, plans to block our efforts – at all costs.

The startling truth is that Israel has no authority over Gaza’s waters, and so its defence force should perhaps go back to monitoring Israel’s real border, although they may be hard pushed to figure out just where they lie.”…..condemn Israeli attack on Freedom Flotilla

Me and My God

The eighteen months curriculum part is done and so far it sounds excellent.  This could be started in a place where people are in desperate need of education, by the people who are really concerned with increasing literacy rate in a short period of time.  The impact of this planning could be multiplied to any number but one and zero if, unlike the regular educational system, non-schooling days are taken care of wisely.  This is only possible when the premises is not used as a school but serves as a place for academic excellence, proper training and creating community bonding for both children and adults.  The purpose should be to give them reasons for why and how to face and solve the problems of the real world and not a promise to some far away lands in fairy tales…because they don’t exist.  In fact, this was one miraculous aspect of the great teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), re-introduced as the concept of “my two by two”.  Convincing people to bring positive change where they stand within the capacity and the resources they are bestowed with.  The residents of the area should be consulted with the thinking that do not counter their basic beliefs and traditions.  The consultants should not represent themselves as the creature from some other world talking aliens.

Ah…what am I talking about.  Anyway, I went outside last night and in a mile area, what I observed, many people didn’t know what’s going on, that could be because they don’t use facebook or internet.  The rest were peaceful as they were happy with the government’s decision about banning the facebook and youtube.  For that I have a feeling like the govt’s ban worked like a “fard-e-kifayah” on nation’s behalf and saved them from coming on the streets to protest.  So there was peace all around.  Well done!

The thing that I am worried about is that if West keeps encouraging these kind of acts or movements, this would finally cause the religious people realize their power and that could be very dangerous.  In just one day, non-religious and educated people failed to show any interest regarding “social influence”.  They need to understand the importance of this very basic term of political science, when you live in a place, particularly under the slogan of “humanity”, you have to take interest in solving the issues of all kinds because “humanity” encompasses every human being regardless of any discrimination.  You just can’t ignore a single person on the basis of your personal likes and dislikes.  That was another miraculous aspect of remarkable teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Prayer of Prophet Musa/Moses (peace be upon him) in Surah

Taha: (25 to 36)

“(Moses) said: “O my Lord! expand me my breast;  “Ease my task for me;  “And remove the impediment from my speech,  “So they may understand what I say: “And give me a Minister from my family, “Aaron, my brother;  “Add to my strength through him,  “And make him share my task:  “That we may celebrate Thy praise without stint,  “And remember Thee without stint:  “For Thou art He that (ever) regardeth us.” ((Allah)) said: “Granted is thy prayer, O Moses!”

The Solution

This is very unlucky for the sacred land of Pakistan to bear the burden of two groups of clerics, fanatics, extremists, radicals.

First group is very obvious and has already earned a bad reputation for being very religious.  As it has become a fashion, the whole world blames these religious people for ruining the image of Pakistan.  No need to go in further detail.

The second group of the same intensity consists of the people who claim to be progressive, moderate and educated.  Unfortunately, when a situation falls, they react and behave exactly the same way as the first group does.

The first group has existed for a long time and for that reason they do have a good and strong support of their followers.  They know their power, they can come on the street and can destroy everything.

I personally appreciate the ideology of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan for clearing the path for this second groups of fanatics.  Sir Syed Ahmed Khan must not had that intention but it served like a ….. to create these two extremist sides.  Before Muslims had a tradition of sending their children to madrassah for religious knowledge and good training.  After spending couple of years there, children were free to go anywhere for further education.  Even Quaid-e-Azam first attended Sindh Madrasatul Islam.

Convincing the Muslims to believe that language barrier is the ONLY reason of their failure and education in English medium is the ONLY solution to their freedom and progress.  To me this is a path to slavery.  Islam doesn’t limit progress bound to any language or any particular system of education.

What a safe and clever trick to divide Pakistanis on the basis of educational system.

I want to ask these educated radicals, you go to college and universities, what do you learn there, the same attitude, no problem solving strategies you have to resolve these issues, or you just don’t care about what’s going on?  Why don’t you show these mullahs the true meaning of tolerance and peace and justice and harmony and morality and humanity?  If they don’t, you become tolerant to them.  What is the base of your claiming that Mullahs and religious parties are not presenting the true Islam?  Have you read Qur’an (even if you don’t believe in it, just as a common book), have you studied the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him) like most of the learned non-Mulims do?  And you call yourself educated????  How much do you care about the society or human being?  YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF HUMANITY REVOLVES AROUND SELF-GROOMING, PERSONAL FAME AND MAINTAINING PERSONAL LIFE. Tell me how many matters have you solved on the basis of what you think of Islam or whatever you believe in?

And if you don’t know how to handle the situation, show some patience and neutralize yourself.  Don’t act like adding oil to the fire.  Try to understand the situation we are facing here in Pakistan.  This is not a joke.

Age Issue

Age issue….is it or just a non-issue.  Or is it only a “dimaghi futoor” of Pakistani people.  No wonder we are ruled by the ignorant.

First there are men and women who who always LIE about their age, it’s just like they were born yesterday.  And they do pretend it by showing “LACK OF INTEREST AND LACK OF KNOWLEDGE” in everything.  It really makes me laugh at these fools when they don’t know where are places like Empress Market, Chawla Market, Surjani Town, Khuda ki Basti, Karachi Zoo or even Quaid-e-Azam’s tomb situated.  Permanent residents of Karachi don’t even know if there exists an aquarium on any of our beaches.  I mean, you are born in Karachi, spent 40, 50, 60 years of your life here and you don’t know about specific areas of famous places or markets.  That is because Karachi is not the part of our curriculum.  Lairs are all the leading political and religious parties of Karachi who claim ownership to this city.

Then there come illiterates of two kinds, who make this an issue of honor and dignity.  First category demands to add a title/s to their name to show your respect.  Majority of them belong to religious sector or our middle-class respectable, who think that they were “something valuable” prior to 1947.  Second category adds a title that shows a blood-relation to your name to show their respect to you.  They usually do that to show that they were born after you and so you have to excuse them for their ignorance in anything.  And I hate both of them.

Next, Pakistan is suffering more due to this EDUCATED CLASS who raises age issue to show their cause and love to humanity while on the other side, intentionally or unintentionally, use it to denounce Islamic laws and famous Muslim personalities especially Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).  Most of them belong to NGOs in Pakistan, the best preacher of Western-hatred toward Islam.

What’s wrong with Hazrat Ayesha marrying the Prophet (peace be upon him) at the age of 9 or 12?  Prophet didn’t endorse it as the rule of Shari’ah.

Isn’t it better to marry a girl and provide her a shelter at this age than to rape her at the age of 3, 4, or 5 or get her pregnant at the age of 12 or 13 with an insecurity of not owning the child by the father?  What sounds more pure and just….a city full of female prostitutes and sex-addict males or a society run by people of sacred bonding, father, mother, brother, sister, daughter, son, husband, wife etc….????

Age doesn’t matter.  It’s good training and proper education that makes a difference.  Find ways to break boundaries set by religion in order to fulfill individual desires never leads to anything but injustice, disrespect, chaos and miseries.

Study Pakistan

Following are the pages from the copy of a Fifth Grader at Wonderland Grammar School, a private school.  This child has no idea of punctuation while writing and can’t even read English of First and Second Grade.  I believe that he along with his class-fellows don’t know who were Ahmed Shah Durrani, Shah Waliullah, Syed Jamaluddin Afghani, Ghaznavi and Ghori rulers and what does it mean by a Muslim Republic.  He just started coming to my daughter to seek tuition and today I got a chance to look at his Social Studies notebook.  I was shocked to see the questions that he has been given to memorize.  Some of them are as follows:

1) By whom were the Ghaznavis over throw?  2) Who succeeded in establishing a strong Mughals empire in India?  3) On whom and when did the Mughals over power?  4) Who called Ahmed Shah Durrani?  5) What were the reasons of the war of independence 1857?  6) What were the reason of the down fall of Muslims?  7) When was the India National Congress founded?  8) What is two nation theory?  9) What do you understand by the parallel of latitude and longitude?  10) Why are the Manchar and Kinjhar lakes attrative?  11) What are the factors which cause difference in the climate of the various parts of a country?

The answer for Q#8 in his copy is, “Although Muslim and Hindus were lived together for thousand of years but their way of living and things is quiet different fro each other.  Sir Syed used the word two nation for both the nation and produce two nation theory (no punctuation).

The answer for Q#9 is, “These lines run from East to West and are called the Parallels or latitudes.  Such imaginary lines also run from North to South.  These lines are called longitude or Meridians.

The answer for Q#6 is, “After the death of Aurangzeb the conflict between the two nation became strong Shah Waliullah gave call for Islam.  He appealed to Ahmed Shah Durarani to save Muslim from Marhattas he save muslims but he did not rule over India and returned to Afghanistan.  Muslim weakness were the cause of their down fall.

I asked him many questions which he couldn’t answer.  Finally, I pointed at the picture of Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal and Ms. Fatima Jinnah and asked him their names and what did they do?  He answered, “Quaid-e-Azam was the founder of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal was the leader of India and Fatima Jinnah was the wife of Quaid-e-Azam.”  I corrected him.  The other boy sitting next to him, goes to Mrs. Tehseen’s Learning School (one of the most expensive school in our area) said, “she must be the mother of Quaid-e-Azam because she is too old to be the youngest sister.”

If I recall my memory, from my schooling days till now, all we teach and learn in Social Studies or Pakistan Studies are 1) the word “DOWNFALL” and 2) the reason of launching wars against non-Muslims or the reasons of the failure of Muslim dynasties.  Why are Muslims discussed as a failure in Social/Pakistan Studies and to read about their glory, one has to wait for the Islamic period?  Is this the right curriculum for elementary school?

While the non-Muslims call most of those eras remarkable.  Bertrand Russell said, “Our use of the phrase ‘the Dark Ages’ to cover the period from 699 to 1000 marks our undue concentration on Western Europe…From India to Spain, the brilliant civilization of Islam flourished. “

Jared Diamond said, “Medieval Islam was technologically advanced and open to innovation.  It achieved far higher literacy rates than in contemporary Europe; it assimilated the legacy of classical Greek civilization to such a degree that many classical books are now known to us only through Arabic copies.  It invented windmills, trigonometry, lateen sails and made major advances in metallurgy, mechanical and chemical engineering and irrigation methods.  In the middle-ages the flow of technology was overwhelmingly from Islam to Europe rather from Europe to Islam.  Only after 1500′s did the net direction of flow begin to reverse.”

The point is that how can we expect a bright future from our children when we are now filling their minds with all the negative things about our glorious past?  Who is responsible for all this mess?  May be, the descendants of the feudal lords who received the title of “SIR” from their British Lords as a result of their loyalty against Muslims.  OR now the current educated silent majority??????????
